During my childhood my family lived in the country where we had chickens, goats, pigs, horses and a 500-acre forest for a backyard. I cherish memories of my time there and always longed to return to the country life. But having spent most of my life in the city, I found that becoming a bit of a city girl while still being a bit of a country girl ultimately meant finding a place where both city life and country life are a part of my lifestyle. A place in the country with the city in the distance is perfect.
Finding the right place led to road trips exploring many areas of Texas. A side benefit to the hunt for our land is the fondness we grew for the wonderful places we experienced along the way. Exploring small towns on off the beaten path was so much fun and now we revisit many of those areas on weekend getaways.
It took a lot of property tours but ultimately, we found the perfect place for us. We love it, settled in and are now embracing the country life. Oh, the things we learned along the way and the things we are learning daily on this new journey into country life. One must bring a sense of humor with them when embarking on lifestyle changes. This blog came out of my experiences searching and reflect my experiences in our newfound lifestyle.
Here I will share stories about everything from places to eat, drink and be merry, to shopping for this and that, to lessons learned about "how to's", to animals, gardens & guns, to real estate and the like. I'm passionate about my love of land and trees, about fun on the farm, about the business of real estate and my hobby of stock investing. I've been told I'm bit on the analytical side and not really that funny so if you read something that makes you chuckle, probably my husband said it.
As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. I really enjoy hearing the stories of others going through similar experiences. If you have advice, suggestions or questions please feel welcome to tell me, or ask me, all about it. People we cross paths with influence our story. We provide each other encouragement and advice. Where I can answer questions or help I will, where you can do the same let me know. There are many folks moving out of cities into more rural country areas and together, we can help them as well.
Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. You can get more involved beyond reading my blog by engaging with me on social media, stopping by my office or subscribing to my newsletter.
You are welcome to keep coming back here to see new content. However, a better option is to subscribe to my newsletter! You will get updates on new posts and special content that is only available to my subscribers.
